VPsaS is dedicated to providing engaging and insightful speakers in an atmosphere of collegiality and intellectual curiosity. We welcome all mental health clinicians interested in learning more about psychoanalytic theory. Our presentation topics have included neuropsychoanalysis, child development, marital conflicts, theories of relationships, diagnosis, deficit disorders, unconscious conflicts, and therapeutic techniques. Our speakers vary from local experts on a particular topic to nationally and internationally known scholars.
Secondly, we help orient trainees in all mental health fields about the utility of modern analytic concepts in child-centered counseling, psychotherapies, and related fields. To this end, we sponsor selected trainees to attend our lectures and meetings.
Third, we endeavor to give recognition to the members of the society who are making scholastic and societal contributions through their professional endeavors.
Fourth, we encourage collegiality and long-term working relationships within our Society and with others in the community.
All mental health professionals licensed in Virginia and professionals in training are potentially eligible for some level of membership (for more information, please click join).
